SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager is a key member of the Summit Energy Execution team, working closely with our clients, engineering team, pre-construction and procurement team, finance manager, assistant project managers, and construction managers. This role is responsible for executing solar PV and storage (BESS) projects while maintaining budget and schedule. The position will manage and direct project management activities and act as liaison between clients, stakeholders, engineers, in-house construction managers, and third-party subcontractors and other consultants during the execution phase of a project. This position will be responsible for the coordination during pre-construction, execution, and close-out phases of projects. The candidate must deliver positive results and assume accountability for delivering projects on an approved schedule and within budget to maintain value and protect profitability. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as a proactive attitude and an ability to use discretion and work under minimal supervision to achieve objectives.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage multiple complex solar PV and storage (BESS) projects.

  • Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

  • Negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases.

  • Understand client timelines and keep projects on schedule.

  • Develop and maintain good relationships with clients, utilities, permitting agencies, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Organize and facilitate regular meetings with clients, utility managers, and subcontractors.

  • Review contract conditions; ensure compliance with all contract terms.

  • Work with construction managers to develop safety plans and implement safety procedures.

  • Create pay applications for milestone and monthly progress invoices.

  • Review and approve vendor and subcontractor billings.

  • Maintain timely and accurate reporting, including job costing and project cash flow projections.

  • Manage documentation of all significant project events (e.g., accidents, delays, change orders).

  • Maintain quality control (integrity and excellence through project completion).

  • Mitigate project conflicts with proactive risk management and timely resolutions.

  • Complete all project close-out procedures.

  • Contribute expertise to support a fast-growing EPC company with continuous process improvements.

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of large commercial and utility-scale solar PV project management experience.

  • A degree in engineering or construction management, equivalent to technical or military education, is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, including contract compliance and project accounting.

  • Proven ability to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and with consistent client satisfaction.

  • Ability to oversee large complex projects, portfolio of small projects, or be a single point of contact for a large client.

  • In-depth understanding of construction contracts and material procurement.

  • Experience in EPC project pursuits and project execution preferred.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel), including MS Project and other project management tools. Experience with Procore is preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively from remote locations and travel occasionally.

  • Team-oriented with a proactive attitude.
